A little about me:
Born on May 16, 1989...I've lived on the farm my whole life and wouldn't have it any other way! I have been training, riding, and working with horses since the age of 3. I have worked with many different fellow horse people over the years, allowing me to learn a lot. From English, Dressage and Western instructors, Breeders, Trainers, Mountain Outfitters, and Judges - They each taught me things that I use everyday in my life with horses. I was a mountain trail guide in Banff for the summer of 2006. I was the instructor for the local Horse 4-H group for the 2018 season. I started competing at the age of 8 and have competed in Hunters, Jumpers, Gymkhana, Equitation, and pleasure. I have studied a variety of Equine courses from Guelph University in Ontario. Horses are my passion!
Right out of high school, at 18 years old (2007) I started The Love Of A Horse. I have always loved horses and I wanted to share it with others, so start doing Summer Camps and Riding Lessons. 2020 will be the 13th year TLOAH has been in business, we know we will have many more wonderful years to come.
Our goal is to help our students learn as much about horse care, riding, and every day handling as we can. We strive to teach both great sportsmanship and horsemanship skills. When you join the TLOAH team, you are part of the family!
TLOAH is very family orientated! I do the horse side of things, and my darling husband Erik does everything from building jumps, doing daily chores, to cooking the best home cooked meals your taste buds will experience! Erik has supported my passion for horses and I'm the luckiest woman around with him in my life.
I am also blessed to have help from other family members as well.. My Aunt who is another one of our cooks. My father who supports my dreams and has allowed TLOAH to exist on his farm. My son is always eager to learn more about horses and help out on a daily basis, he is also a great entertainer!
About our lovely assistant instructor:
My name is Taylor Kanigan, i was born on April 12 1998 and grew up on an acreage outside of Edmonton. I started taking riding lessons when I was 8 however it took me a couple of years to convince the parents that we should in fact clear 5 acres of trees and fence in that acreage for horses. After my bargaining I found my First horse Spike Which led to a second and eventually a Third. Spikes name is printed across TLOAHs old barn door still to this day in white paint. I’ve since trained under a diverse set coaches from Cutting to jumping and just about everything in between. My absolute favourite discipline being Dressage. I attended The Love Of a Horse summer camp as a little girl in 2009-2013 where I met Beth and her incredibly warm hearted family. Eventually as I got older, Beth asked me to if I was interested in lending a hand in the camps. As a bored 15 year old girl in love with horses, this was “the dream”. After many years of helping in camps we built an amazing friendship and today Beth is one of my closest friends.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know a bit about us.
We hope you will come be a part of the family here at TLOAH, we look forward to seeing you this summer!
